In total: 1954 t CO2
SPITZKE Footprint scope 3 other indirect emissions
  • Paper purchased 6 m³
  • Waste paper/cardboard 63 m³
  • Other wastes 60 m³
  • Waste after work 100 m³
  • Taxi trips 2,000 km 0.5 tonne CO2
  • Travel by train 66,200 km 3.5 tonnes CO2
  • Electricity on customer side 7 tonnes CO2
  • Suppliers' emissions 30000 tonnes CO2
Trends
  • Electricity consumption during normal traffic periods falling in line with targets. The servers consume so much electricity that our target for 2009 was unrealistic and was therefore adjusted by 3%.
  • Electricity consumption during the day has fallen by around 25%; the most important reason for this is switching off lights on leaving the room.
  • The purchase of "green" electricity is more complicated that we thought, but was settled from 1 December.
  • A4 paper consumption has been reduced by 5%, because each printer has been set to double-sided printing as a default.
2010 targets
  1. Electricity consumption during normal traffic periods is to be reduced by 15% in 2010.
  2. Passenger vehicles; cars with classification labels. Within three years they will be replaced by cars with A/B/C labels.
  3. We now own a hybrid car; in 2010 we will be advertising for the hybrid car among employees: Target for 2010: another hybrid car.
  4. Locomotives; the SpitzkeNed locomotives as a whole consume less 5% diesel from June 2009. Reference: Deployment, operating hours and kilometres travelled.
  5. We will encourage employees to use their cars less for travel between home and work. The target is to achieve a 5% reduction in 2011. 2010 will be used to set up a system.
  6. 2010 will also be used for further investigations into how we can reduce CO2 even further in the future.
  7. A4 paper consumption to be reduced by 10% from July 2010.
  8. Employees with a company car will be issued a business card for rail travel. The target is for each person issued with a business card to travel at least twice by train in 2010.
